40th Annual SMA Conference

Representatives from The Valentine and the Virginia Museum of History & Culture will discuss a collaborative teacher professional development program - Monumental Moments: Public Art and Public Memory - which focused on changes to Richmond's monumental landscape. We will highlight our unique interpretative approaches to translating public memory and the monumentalizing of public spaces and share conversations centering on public memory and community voices. We will also share resources for participants to take with them.

This special workshop will take place at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture and is limited to 40 attendees, speakers, or sponsors / exhibitors of the 2024 SMA conference. Registrants can add this workshop for free and are encouraged to carpool to the location.
