More than 200 museum professionals attend, representing a wide variety of small museums. We offer a balance of beginner’s and advanced sessions in an informal and friendly ambiance.

The keynote speaker, Michael Ripton of the Mechanicsburg Museum Association will address topics not often taught in museum studies classes or professional development seminars. The plenary speaker, Jeff Buchheitt, from AAM, will speak about how small museums can thrive in the 21st century.

Attendees will choose from a plethora of session topics -- here are just a few:

  • Workshops on grant writing, marketing, and master planning
  • Education through entertainment
  • Labeling artifacts
  • Outdoor education
  • Small-budget, high-impact web design
  • Museums and kids
  • Attracting museum audiences
  • ... and many more!

To see all of the sessions offered this year, please read the registration packet.

The Small Museum Association will honor one individual and one small museum for outstanding work.
